Lisbon’s  baroque serpent  nature perhaps converts it  with his unforgettable beauty, in an ideal scenario for an unhurried running event, perhaps that is  the reason why the Marathon has been held continuously in Lisbon for nearly thirty years (http://www.lisbon-marathon.com/) and has become one of the most important  ones held around the continent judging both the high and growing level of participation as the  fascinating and evocative circular running path, located at the junction of more than two kilometers of its stunning suspension bridge one of the most critical points of any imaginable itinerary.

The abysmal view from the top of this impressive metal structure lifted majestically over the Tagus estuary rhyme with essential tremor caused by thousands of years associated since antiquity with the end of the world and the beginning of the unknown, the sad  limit, the elegant and nostalgic ending  of all the things that one can believe have had some kind of certainty.

Interestingly, that same feeling perhaps is accentuated this year by some of the closeness of the apocalypse predicted by the Mayans, for the race will take place on December 9, less than two weeks before the date set for hundreds of years predicting the disaster by the fascinating pre-Columbian civilization-not at odds with either the historical origin of the race.

42 kilometers is the distance covered by the current race as it was the distance to be covered by the people of Athens to fight a disproportionately fearsome Persian army superior in numbers and prestige nonetheless getting one of the most formidable military victories of all time.
