A Weekend with Children in Lisbon
Lisbon offers charming romantic corners (many with green areas) that will delight our children. And if you’re traveling with young adolescents, the city may well be their first immersion in the lusa culture. Since there’s a lot to cover, let us begin.

Traveling to Lisbon and not climbing to the top of Alfama, to the Castle of St. George, through the maze of narrow, aged, and bohemian streets of this neighborhood where fado has its origins is an incomplete journey. Apart from the stunning views over the bay, you’ll find a small garden near the Tower of San Lorenzo that is planted with trees where ducks and geese live freely. In addition, your daytrip should be organized so that you can enjoy the sundown there, taking advantage of this prime vantage point for viewing the sunset. With a little time and inclination, you may want to take some pictures in the Se Cathedral, which is located in the old part and very near the castle.
The next morning, Saturday morning, you can enjoy the monumental area of Belém. Since you will be doing a lot of walking, make stops at the good pastry shops, tea rooms and restaurants featuring traditional cuisine that can be found in the area. In addition to the jewel of Manueline art, the Monastery de los Jerónimos, the esplanade in front of the French gardens will appeal to our young travelers. As will the Tropical Agricultural Garden with its exotic plants brought over from the former Portuguese colonies. Another interesting and fun spot for both young and old is the National Museum of Cars, with well-preserved carriages and older model taxis. Needless to say, you have to take a picture next to the Belém Tower and the Monument to the Discoveries.
The nice thing about a weekend getaway is that, despite the bustle, the days are lived intensely and the return to daily life is harder. The trouble is always time. So if you are traveling with older children, consider this an opportunity to introduce our youth to the fascinating world of art. Lisbon has two first-class museums: the Museu Calouste Gulbenkian and the Museum of Ancient Art, which shows works from the Middle Ages to the nineteenth century, such as a beautiful Books of Hours (currently not there due to theft) belonging to Don Manuel. However, if children are smaller, they will prefer a visit to Lisbon Zoo and its thousands of animals of all possible species. What is certain is that the whole family will have to take a break at some point to enjoy a snack. So a visit to Café Brasileira, where the poet Fernando Pessoa composed some of his verses, is a must.
With so much hustle and bustle, you will likely only be in your apartments in Lisbon for a short time. This city has great public transportation and, of course, its impressive to ride its nineteenth-century trams. Have fun!

Howdy just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your post seem
to be running off the screen in Firefox. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I figured I’d
post to let you know. The design and style look great though!
